SWAN RIVER PROJECT
Museum of Western Australia
Freemantle 2024

A number of scientifically correct panels depicts Swan river life. The panels and accompanying text form the entry way to the Down Under Gallery.

The artworks had to be relatively flexible in design and leave spaces so the public could contribute to the work after completing workshops. This created opportunities for community to become involved by adding to the installation over time.

Marion and Lynnette trained Museum of Western Australia staff to facilitate ghost net weaving workshops for school groups and community members as part of a project.

The Ghost Net Collective acknowledges the Gimuy Walubara Yidinji people, the traditional custodians of Gimuy - Cairns and surrounding district. We acknowledge the Erubam Le of Erub Island and all the First Nations Peoples of the Torres Strait Islands and mainland Australia that we visit. We pay our respect to past and present Elders. We acknowledge the important role that art has played on these lands for thousands of years and believe that, through collaboration, we can make a difference.
