Alien Arums

Arum spikes emerged like alien invaders on the headland at Bondi Beach.  Numerous botanical species are invading our coastlines, establishing themselves and thriving. This work explores connections between ghost-nets washing up and becoming embedded on our shores, with the emergence of these reconstructed, growing forms.

This installation imagined the net that has laid unseen and dormant underground, accumulating energy in a metamorphic mass of colour, emerging as an equally poisonous living growing thing.
